Our mission is to provide a safe, compassionate, and inclusive space where individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, addiction, or incarceration can find the support and resources needed to heal and rebuild their lives. We are committed to fostering community, empowering personal growth, and guiding each person toward restoration, resilience, and long-term recovery.
We strive to create a space where individuals who feel lost, left out, or lonely can find the support they need to reclaim and restore their lives. For survivors of childhood trauma, abuse, substance use, and past incarceration, we recognize the importance of having a safe, nurturing environment for healing and rehabilitation. We aim to provide hope, connection, and tools to foster personal growth and lifelong recovery.
We believe that every individual, regardless of their past, has the potential for renewal and growth. We embrace a future where healing is possible through compassion, understanding, and community support. Our approach prioritizes compassion, recognizing that the journey to restoration is unique for everyone. Through ongoing care and meaningful connections, we are dedicated to fostering hope and empowering individuals to build fulfilling, purpose-driven lives.
Brown Manor is an initiative dedicated to providing a safe space for individuals who are lost, left out, and lonely, enabling them to restore their lives. The house, previously abandoned, is undergoing significant restoration. Essential repairs such as roofing, heating, and plumbing are needed to make the facility habitable. The project was founded by Anthony Brown, a survivor of childhood trauma, abuse, substance use, and past incarcerations. Brown’s journey from homelessness to stability inspired him to create a sanctuary for others facing similar challenges. His life story is one of resilience and transformation. After spending 23 years homeless, he found stability through employment and dedicated his resources to purchasing Brown Manor. His past experiences with trauma and addiction, as well as his encounters with various officials who acknowledged the homelessness problem but lacked resources to address it, motivated him to take action.
The impact of Brown Manor extends beyond the individuals it directly serves. By demonstrating the effectiveness of a comprehensive, integrated approach to homelessness, Brown Manor aims to influence broader policy and program development. It serves as a model for other communities and organizations, showcasing how targeted, holistic interventions can create lasting change.
“Suddenly, I woke up in the middle of the night to find my mother lying on the floor in the living room, surrounded by a puddle of blood. She had been shot… Dad had disappeared and the world seemed a blank except for me calling, “Mom! Mom!” Her body, not moving at all. I called her name over and over until the tears blocked my vision. That image, seared into my brain after all this time, still has the same effect on me today as it did back then. Even after years of drug abuse and homelessness, that image…would never be erased from my mind. Things were different after that…I was different.”Brown Manor’s dramatic life story has led him to many dark and often dangerous places. Addicted to drugs and alcohol since he was very young, From Park Bench to Park Avenue, details his incredible journey from disfunction and homelessness to recovery and triumph—pursuing his ultimate passion of giving hope and help to those still imprisoned by destructive behaviors and substance abuse. All of the proceeds from From Park Bench to Park Avenue will be used to transform a historic home into Brown Manor – a place of recovery, where individuals can begin a new journey, alcohol and drug free; a place that offers a hand up, not a handout.
